Zayna Flowers from University of Belize joins our team!

Zayna Flowers is currently an undergraduate student of the University of Belize pursuing her degree in Natural Resource Management. She is so excited to be spending the summer with the UCF Citizen Science GIS team in Belize. She was introduced to GIS in her first semester as an undergrad student and she mentioned that it was quite a challenge at first but turned out to be rewarding in the end. She said ‘I am constantly  pushing myself and challenging myself with new things because I believe that the greatest lessons and outcomes come from challenging experiences.’ She is seeking to gain additional experience in GIS and research while incorporating what she  knows to positively impact her country through this community- based research opportunity. Zayna will work with the NSF REU team on the Open Reef drone mapping work (funded outside of the NSF grant).

Welcome to the team, Zayna!
